With the blessings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar Ji, we have initiated the conservation of medicinal plants & preservation of traditional knowledge in our Ashram. Herbs/ Medicinal plants play an important role for different traditional systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, traditional chinese medicine, Sowa -Riga and Tibetian system of medicine. To revive the traditional herbal wisdom, we aim to bridge the gap between ancient practices and modern science, providing invaluable insights into the world of herbs for the benefit of society and the environment alike.
Medicinal plant species are endangered due to habitat loss, over-harvesting and other human activities. Without conservation efforts, these plant species may become extinct, and valuable medicinal resources will be lost forever. Hence, let’s join hands together the wealth of extinct herbs.
Our Ashram is enriched with 600 plus varieties of medicinal plants and 27 rare/threatened/endangered plants. Different species of plants emerged during different seasons.
Our Objective
- Creating protected areas and reserves for threatened medicinal plants
- Documentation of traditional knowledge of folklore medicinal plants.
- To create awareness about the traditional usage of medicinal plants.
- Conservation of Rare, Endangered and Threatened (RET) species of Medicinal Plants.
